Calendula at Alpine Apothecary

At Alpine Apothecary, calendula is more than just an ingredient added to a label.
It is one of the core plants woven throughout our workshop, our formulations, and the way we create products in the Snowy Mountains of NSW.
Known for its vibrant golden-orange flowers, calendula has been traditionally used in apothecary preparations for generations. At Alpine Apothecary, we grow, harvest, dry, and infuse calendula in-house as part of our small-batch production process.
From flowers drying naturally in the workshop to slow botanical infusions steeping into oils, calendula plays a central role across many of our products.
Grown in the Australian Alps
Our calendula is grown at altitude in the Snowy Mountains, where cold winters, alpine air, and seasonal growing conditions shape the way we work with plants.
Unlike large-scale commercial production, our approach is hands-on and seasonal. Flowers are harvested in small batches, carefully dried, and prepared for use throughout the workshop.
This process allows us to work closely with the raw plant material itself — not simply pre-made extracts or powdered additives.
Our Calendula Infusion Process
Once dried, calendula flowers are slowly infused into oils used throughout our botanical formulations.
This traditional apothecary method allows the botanical material to steep gradually over time, creating rich herbal oils that become part of our skincare, balms, soaps, and body products.
We value traditional infusion methods because they keep us connected to the plant itself and the process behind the final product.
From growing and drying to infusing and formulation, the entire process happens within our Snowy Mountains workshop.
Where We Use Calendula
Calendula appears throughout many areas of Alpine Apothecary, including:
Botanical skincare
Balms and creams
Soaps
Bath products
Herbal preparations
Seasonal botanical products
Many products combine calendula with other alpine-grown or carefully selected botanicals such as elderflower, peppermint, and yarrow.
A Real Working Apothecary
Alpine Apothecary is not built around mass production or generic “natural” marketing.
We are a working apothecary workshop where herbs are grown, dried, infused, formulated, poured, wrapped, and packed in-house.
Calendula is part of that process from beginning to end.
From flower to finished product, this is hands-on botanical craft shaped by climate, season, and real-world making.
