How to burn a candle correctly
How to Burn a Candle Correctly
1. Trim the wick before each burn
Trim the wick to approximately 5–7 mm before lighting. A trimmed wick helps maintain a steadier flame and cleaner burn.
2. Allow the wax to melt across the surface
On the first burn, allow the melt pool to reach close to the edge of the container. This helps reduce tunnelling and supports an even burn.
3. Limit each burn to four hours
Do not burn a candle for more than four hours at a time. Extinguish it if the flame becomes unusually large, flickers excessively or produces visible smoke.
4. Keep the candle away from draughts
Place the candle on a stable, heat-resistant surface away from open windows, fans, air conditioners, children, pets and flammable materials.
5. Extinguish safely
Use a candle snuffer where possible. Allow the candle to cool completely before moving it or trimming the wick.
Important safety information
Never leave a burning candle unattended. Keep the wax pool free of matches, wick trimmings and debris. Stop use when approximately 10 mm of wax remains.
Follow the safety instructions supplied with every Alpine Apothecary candle.
