Cut dried elecampane root with a strong, earthy character for traditional home-apothecary preparations.
Flavour and Character
Distinctively earthy, aromatic and bitter. Elecampane is generally used as one part of a broader herbal preparation rather than for its flavour alone.
Ways to Use
- Prepare as a traditional slow herbal decoction
- Add in small amounts to custom root and herb blends
- Use in traditional tincture or syrup-making projects
- Keep in the home apothecary for botanical preparations
How to Prepare a Decoction
Add 1 teaspoon of cut root per cup of water. Bring to a gentle simmer for 10 to 15 minutes, then strain. Adjust the amount to suit the naturally strong flavour.
