Cut dried licorice root with a naturally sweet, earthy character for herbal blending and traditional home-apothecary preparations.
Flavour and Aroma
Deeply sweet, woody and distinctive. A small amount can soften bitter herbal blends and add natural sweetness without sugar.
Ways to Use
- Add sparingly to loose herbal tea and root blends
- Combine with warming spices in a slow decoction
- Use in traditional syrup and tincture-making projects
- Add to homemade botanical drinks where a naturally sweet root flavour is wanted
How to Prepare
Add 1/2 to 1 teaspoon per cup of water. Gently simmer for 10 to 15 minutes, then strain. Licorice has a strong, lingering sweetness, so begin with a small amount when blending.
