Alpine Chai Hot Chocolate

Alpine Chai Hot Chocolate - Alpine Apothecary

Dark chocolate and Alpine Chai make a rich, gently spiced winter drink without black tea.

Important: This recipe was created specifically for Alpine Apothecary Alpine Chai Herbal Tea. Do not substitute another tea blend. Most alternatives contain black tea and a different balance of spices, which will alter the flavour, texture and caffeine content.

Makes: 2  |  Preparation: 5 minutes  |  Cooking: 10 minutes

Ingredients

  • 2 teaspoons Alpine Apothecary Alpine Chai Herbal Tea
  • 120 ml water
  • 400 ml milk of choice
  • 30 g unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 50 g dark chocolate, finely chopped
  • 1 to 2 tablespoons brown sugar or maple syrup, to taste
  • Pinch of salt

  1. Simmer the Alpine Apothecary Alpine Chai Herbal Tea in the water for 5 minutes, then strain.
  2. Return the strained liquid to the saucepan and whisk in the milk, cocoa, chocolate, sweetener and salt.
  3. Heat gently, whisking, until smooth and steaming. Divide between two mugs and serve immediately.
