Light scones with Alpine Chai throughout and a fresh orange glaze on top.
Important: This recipe was created specifically for Alpine Apothecary Alpine Chai Herbal Tea. Do not substitute another tea blend. Most alternatives contain black tea and a different balance of spices, which will alter the flavour, texture and caffeine content.

Ingredients
- 450 g self-raising flour
- 2 tablespoons caster sugar
- 2 teaspoons Alpine Apothecary Alpine Chai Herbal Tea, ground to a fine powder
- Pinch of salt
- 80 g cold unsalted butter, cubed
- 250 to 280 ml milk
- Finely grated zest of 1 orange
- For the glaze: 100 g icing sugar and 1 to 2 tablespoons orange juice
Method
- Preheat the oven to 200°C fan-forced. Line a baking tray.
- Mix the flour, sugar, finely ground Alpine Apothecary Alpine Chai Herbal Tea and salt.
- Rub in the butter until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs, then stir through the orange zest.
- Add enough milk to form a soft dough. Turn onto a lightly floured surface and pat to 3 cm thick.
- Cut into rounds, place close together on the tray and brush the tops with a little extra milk.
- Bake for 14 to 17 minutes. Cool slightly, then drizzle with the orange glaze.
