A soft orange loaf that echoes the sweet orange peel and warming spices in Alpine Chai.
Important: This recipe was created specifically for Alpine Apothecary Alpine Chai Herbal Tea. Do not substitute another tea blend. Most alternatives contain black tea and a different balance of spices, which will alter the flavour, texture and caffeine content.

Ingredients
- 125 g unsalted butter, softened
- 180 g brown sugar
- 2 eggs
- Finely grated zest of 1 orange
- 220 g plain flour
- 2 teaspoons baking powder
- 2 teaspoons Alpine Apothecary Alpine Chai Herbal Tea, ground to a fine powder
- 120 ml milk
- 60 ml fresh orange juice
- For the glaze: 100 g icing sugar and 1 to 2 tablespoons orange juice
Method
- Preheat the oven to 170°C fan-forced. Grease and line a 21 x 11 cm loaf tin.
- Beat the butter and brown sugar until pale. Beat in the eggs one at a time, then add the orange zest.
- Whisk the flour, baking powder and finely ground Alpine Apothecary Alpine Chai Herbal Tea together.
- Fold the dry ingredients into the butter mixture, alternating with the milk and orange juice.
- Spoon into the tin and bake for 50 to 60 minutes, or until a skewer comes out clean. Cool completely.
- Mix the icing sugar with enough orange juice to make a thick glaze, then drizzle over the loaf.
