Herbal Bath Tea Sachets

Herbal Bath Tea Sachets - Alpine Apothecary

Recipe illustration; appearance may vary.

A bath tea sachet keeps loose herbs contained while allowing the warm water to draw out their colour and natural character.

Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup rolled oats
  • 1 tablespoon dried calendula petals
  • 1 teaspoon dried lavender or chamomile
  • 1 muslin bag or a square of clean cotton cloth

Method

  1. Place all ingredients in the muslin bag or centre of the cloth and tie securely.
  2. Put the sachet beneath the running warm bath water.
  3. Once the bath is filled, allow the sachet to float and steep.
  4. Gently squeeze the sachet into the water a few times, without opening it.
  5. After the bath, empty and rinse the bag. Compost the plant material if suitable.

Good to know

The oats can make bath water look softly milky. Keeping everything inside the sachet makes cleaning the bath much easier.

Safety: For external use only. Patch test if you have sensitive skin or plant allergies. Stop if irritation occurs. The bath may become slippery.
